Peppermint tea

What is peppermint?

Peppermint, or Mentha x piperita, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It is a natural hybrid resulting from a cross between water mint and spearmint. Native to Europe, it is now cultivated worldwide for its aromatic leaves, recognisable by their intense, fresh fragrance with slightly pungent notes reminiscent of pepper.
Used since ancient times, this medicinal plant is distinguished by its many virtues and varied uses. Its leaves, rich in menthol, provide a unique sensation of freshness, making it a highly prized ingredient in herbal medicine, cooking and herbal teas. Peppermint is also known for its role in wellness care, featuring in the composition of many natural products such as essential oils, balms and lotions.
